Health & Safety Director
Description:
The Health & Safety (HS) Manager leads the Operations and Projects Health & Safety teams. He/she is responsible for the implementation, operation, monitoring, and review of Eramine’s management systems, with the objective of ensuring that work activities are carried out without incidents, injuries to personnel, or damage to property, while providing functional Health & Safety support to the entire organization (employees and contractors).
The Health & Safety (HS) Director is part of Eramine’s Senior Team, with responsibilities including the monitoring of safety performance in operations and projects on Health & Safety matters, in coordination and alignment with the Eramet Group Safety & Prevention VP and his delegates.
This role reports hierarchically to the CEO of Eramine and functionally to the Eramet Health & Safety Director.

Responsibilities:
• Lead team alignment processes with Health & Safety (HS) and ethical behaviors. Demonstrate, promote, and exemplify the company’s core values: People, Quality, and Growth.
• Implement and monitor the HS Management System, Safe Work Plans, and Procedures.
• Promote the HS Management System by personal example and leadership.
• Foster strong personal awareness and accountability for HS at all management levels.
• Review company activities and ensure compliance with HS Policies, Plans, and Procedures.
• Ensure that contractors’ activities comply with both Company and Contractor HS Policies and Plans, in accordance with contract terms and local legal HS regulations.
• Verify that all hazards and risks associated with Company and Contractor activities are identified, assessed, and mitigated to eliminate incidents or accidents.
• Review daily, weekly, and monthly HSE site reports and statistics.
• Compile and publish HS statistics, communicating them to management and staff according to local regulations and Eramet reporting procedures.
• Ensure that emergency preparedness and response plans are developed, documented, implemented, and tested.
• Guarantee the availability and maintenance of medical services, first aid, occupational health resources, equipment, and supplies in all offices and work sites.
• Implement and execute the HS Training Plan.
• Lead risk assessments and studies, ensuring that results are integrated into work execution.
• Develop specific safety procedures with the site team to address identified risks and challenges.
• Ensure that the company’s HS performance requirements are included in all contractual documents.
• Verify that contractors’ activities comply with their HS Plan and the terms and conditions of their contract with the company.
• Follow up on accident investigations, High Potential Incidents, and Observations, ensuring closure or implementation of preventive recommendations, and communicate results to both Company and Contractor staff.
• Promote lessons learned related to HS and facilitate information exchange among the Group, the Company, and contractors, with the goal of enhancing HS awareness.
• Carry out any other HS-related tasks that may be required by Eramet, such as transversal safety initiatives or testing new tools.
• Ensure that the HS team remains up to date on HS changes, trained, motivated, and equipped with the necessary resources to perform their activities.
Your Profile:
• Engineering degree or equivalent, with additional professional qualifications in Health & Safety (HS) and Safety Management Systems.
• 15+ years of experience in Health & Safety within mining operations and mineral processing plants.
• Experience in geological environments and remote locations similar to the project, for at least 15 years.
• Skilled and experienced in the development, documentation, implementation, and auditing of comprehensive HS management systems.
• Proven competence and experience in effectively managing offices and HS site teams.
• Pragmatic approach to problem solving.
• Strong experience working with external contractors to build successful HS programs.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Quality Assurance practices, processes, and standards.
• Comprehensive knowledge of medical and health practices, processes, and standards.
• Experienced facilitator or chair for HAZOPS and HAZIDS.
• Experienced accident investigator with expertise in root cause analysis techniques.
• Advanced knowledge and use of digital applications and e-tools.
