Objective
Lead the design and implementation of the sustainability strategy for Glencore’s mining projects in Argentina, ensuring compliance with the permitting process, efficient budget and timeline management, and the integration of international best practice standards. The role aims to minimize environmental, social, and human rights impacts, promote responsible resource management, and strengthen relationships with communities and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement the project’s sustainability strategy and action plan, integrating environmental, social, and human rights criteria across all phases.
Lead the permitting strategy and environmental studies, ensuring regulatory compliance, impact mitigation, water management, waste management, and biodiversity conservation.
Oversee relationships with communities, including land acquisition, resettlements, and socioeconomic development programs.
Implement Glencore’s Human Rights Policy by establishing training, monitoring, reporting, and grievance mechanisms.
Build and maintain relationships with authorities, NGOs, and key stakeholders, fostering communication and transparency.
Prepare sustainability reports and ensure compliance with national regulations and international standards.
Promote innovation and continuous improvement in sustainability and socio-environmental management practices.
Experience and Requirements
Over 15 years of experience in sustainability, preferably in mining or natural resources in Argentina, with a track record in permitting, community relations, and managing high-impact socio-environmental risks.
Experience in implementing international standards (ISO 14001, ICMM, UNGPs, IFC PS, among others).
Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and building trusted relationships with communities, NGOs, authorities, and stakeholders.
Solid knowledge of environmental, social, and human rights regulations in Argentina.
Effective communication skills in Spanish and English, with a strategic mindset, critical thinking, and results orientation.
