What are we looking for?
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manger, Legal and Corporate Governance to safeguard the company's compliance and legal integrity. This pivotal role ensures operations remain within all local laws, regulations, and internal policies, while effectively managing legal and corporate governance functions.
What are we expecting from this role?
- Ensuring Compliance & Risk Management: The primary driver in ensuring the company adheres to all relevant local laws, regulations, and PCA policies. This includes proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal and compliance risks, as well as promoting a company-wide understanding of these risks through training.
- Leading Legal & Company Secretarial Functions: Overseeing and managing all aspects of legal and company secretarial operations. This involves diligently identifying and managing legal risks, maintaining meticulous legal and corporate records, and ensuring all board, committee, and shareholder meetings are properly convened and documented.
- Navigating Regulatory Landscape: Responsible for staying abreast of regulatory changes, conducting impact assessments, and collaborating with various departments to integrate new requirements into processes. This also includes liaising with regulators and government authorities for necessary approvals and advice.
- Contract Management & Advisory: Playing a key role in reviewing business contracts, ensuring they meet regulatory and business requirements, and providing expert interpretation of contractual stipulations to stakeholders.
- Driving Process Improvement: Working closely with the line manager to formalize and refine processes, addressing identified gaps and mitigating risks to ensure operational excellence.
Who are we looking for?
- Looking for a Qualified Lawyer in Laos with a strong background in legal, regulatory, and company secretarial functions, ideally within the financial services or insurance sector.
- A Law degree or equivalent professional qualification.
- 3-5 years of experience (private practice or in-house) advising on insurance-related legal issues and documentation (including product, marketing, agency, distribution, investments, and claims).
- Demonstrated experience in interacting with financial regulators.
- Strong people and project management skills, with the ability to thrive in a multicultural environment.
- A comprehensive understanding of financial services and its inherent business issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Lao.
- Very good presentation, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
- A proven ability to build trust and rapport across all levels of an organization.
- Exceptional judgment, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
- High adaptability and strong communication abilities.
