The Release Train Engineer (RTE) has primary purpose of supporting and coaching the Team of Teams/Agile Release Train by steering it to success and navigating the complexity of delivering, deploying and operating solutions in a large, cross functional environment. As a servant leader and coach, the RTE ensures the Team of Teams/Agile Release Train has the space to get the job done. RTE facilitates the cross-team events and processes. RTE escalates impediments, helps manage risks and drive relentless organizational improvements. RTE monitors corrective actions around risks, scope and quality.
RESPONSABILITIES:
DRIVES ADOPTION OF AGILE PRACTICES BY PROMOTING THE USAGE OF AGILE TOOLS AND PRACTICES
- Manage and optimize the flow of value through the Team of Teams/Product Team using various tools, such as the Program Kanban and other information radiators
- Summarize Product Area Increment Objectives into Product Increment Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency
- Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevSecOps and Release on Demand in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline
- Help drive the innovation cycle.
- Manage process improvement efforts, using quality methodologies and principles
- Analyze designated performance measures and reports to verify that work is consistently and effectively performed according to established procedures and guidelines
- Plan and add automation opportunities to be implemented in PI's.
MANAGES CADENCE OF PROGRAM LEVEL EVENTS
- Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and quarterly product Increments (PIs)
- Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process that drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre and Post Planning meetings.
- Facilitate periodic synchronization meetings (Scrum of Scrums /Prod Owner Sync)
- Facilitate System Demos
- Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops. Assess the agility level and help them improve.
COACHES SCRUM MASTERS AND ALIGNS KEY PROGRAM LEVEL STAKEHOLDERS
- Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean Agile practices and mindsets
- Work with Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment.
- Assist in tracking the execution of features with metrics.
- Assist with economic decision making by facilitating feature estimation by teams and the roll up Portfolio Work Items
- Encourage collaboration between teams and Tech Architects
- Provide operational excellence practices and training
COORDINATES PROGRAM LEVEL RISKS AND ESCALATIONS
- Identify and assess enterprise risks that could impact the delivery and develop an approach to actively managing these risks
- Help manage risks and dependencies at the Planning Iterative level. Escalate and track impediments.
- Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks.
- Experience as a Scrum Master at least up to 2 years.
- Experience as a Scrum Master in an agile Scaled environment
